City approves a pay increase for city employees
Ten per cent for non-exempt employees and five for exempt, after a compensation study begun in late 2025.
The City of Weslaco has approved a pay increase for its employees following action taken at the City Commission meeting held on 4 February 2026.
The commission voted to approve a compensation adjustment providing a 10 per cent increase for non-exempt employees and a 5 per cent increase for exempt employees.
The increases are the result of a comprehensive compensation study begun in late 2025, which evaluated current pay structures, market competitiveness and internal equity to ensure compensation aligns with industry standards and supports retention and recruitment.
City leadership reviewed the findings and determined that the adjustments were necessary to remain competitive while recognising the contributions of city staff.
