The City of Weslaco, in partnership with First Baptist Church of Weslaco, has activated a warming shelter to provide a safe and warm place for people during cold weather.

The shelter is at First Baptist Church, 600 S. Kansas Avenue, Weslaco, across from the Mayor Joe V. Sanchez Public Library.

Intake is available from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and is intended to serve residents who may be experiencing homelessness or who lack adequate heating during overnight cold.

The City encourages residents who need assistance, or who know someone who does, to share this information so that those affected by the cold can reach a safe and warm place.

What the city’s own front page shows for this

A poster. The address of a shelter, and the three hours a night it takes people in, exist on the front page only as pixels inside a 546 KB JPEG — on the one notice on the site where a person reading it may be outside in the cold.
