Utility Billing Clerk
The counter at City Hall: take payments, set up accounts, explain a bill, and handle payment arrangements with patience.

What the job is
- Take payments at the counter, by phone and online, and balance the drawer daily.
- Open, transfer and close water accounts.
- Explain charges and read a meter history to a customer who is upset.
- Set up payment arrangements within policy.
- Prepare the shut-off and reconnect lists.
What you need
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year handling money and the public.
- Bilingual English and Spanish — most of the counter is in Spanish.
- Comfortable with a computer and a cash drawer.
What helps
- Municipal utility billing experience.
- Experience with Incode or a similar system.
- Pay
- $15.60 – $17.80 an hour
