About

A bilingual events platform for the Rio Grande Valley, built here, by people who live here.

Why this exists

The Valley has an unusually rich events culture and an unusually bad way of finding out about any of it. Jamaicas, bailes, mercados, charreadas, festivals, RV park dances, school fundraisers and touring concerts happen constantly across four counties — and the only way to know is to follow the right Facebook page, drive past the right flyer, or know the right person.

That is not a technology gap. It is that nobody has built a product for how events are actually announced here, which is with a flyer.

Who is behind it

Qué Hay RGV is a product of Pragmatic Business Solutions, based in Rio Grande City, Texas — upriver, in Starr County, inside the market it serves.

That matters more than it might sound. A product for this market built from Austin or Dallas would get the Spanish wrong, would translate a jamaica into “church fundraiser”, and would treat Winter Texans as a rounding error. We are not going to make those mistakes because we would notice them.

Where we are

We are not open yet. We are collecting events, talking to organizers, parishes and RV park activity directors, and building.

We have published our own launch condition: we do not open publicly below 900 live events with at least 120 in the coming week, across at least 45 organizers and 6 cities. If we cannot hit that, launching would waste your time and ours, and we would rather say so.

We have also written down the conditions under which we would stop. Publishing those is the least fakeable thing we can offer you before there is a product to judge.

Follow along

We will tell you when we open, and nothing else in the meantime.

Text alerts are optional — leave the phone field blank for email only. We never share your information. Unsubscribe any time.
