SMS & Messaging Terms
Last updated: 23 August 2026
These terms apply to text (SMS/MMS) and WhatsApp messages sent and received through Qué Hay RGV. They supplement our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Text messaging is entirely optional. You will not receive a message from us unless you asked for it. We do not sell or share your mobile number or your consent with anyone.
1. The programs we operate
- Weekly roundup (marketing) — a summary of what is happening in your city, sent about once a week, typically Friday morning.
- Event reminders and alerts (transactional) — reminders for events you saved and alerts from organizers you follow, sent when relevant.
- Flyer intake confirmations (transactional) — a confirmation reply when you send us a flyer to publish.
- Account and security messages (transactional) — verification codes and account notices.
Marketing and transactional programs are operated as separate campaigns. Consenting to one does not enrol you in the other.
2. How you opt in
By checking the consent box on our website and giving us your mobile number, by texting our published number first, or by opting in inside the app. Consent is never a condition of using the Service or of purchasing anything.
3. Message frequency
Varies. The weekly roundup is about four messages a month. Reminders and alerts depend on how many events you save and how many organizers you follow.
4. Cost
Message and data rates may apply. We charge nothing for messages; your mobile carrier's standard rates apply. Spanish-language messages use extended character encoding and may count as more segments than an English message of the same length; this affects our cost, not yours.
5. How to stop
Reply STOP, ALTO, PARAR, END, QUIT, CANCEL or UNSUBSCRIBE to any message to stop that program. Reply HELP or AYUDA for assistance. Reply UNSTOP or START to resume. You may also manage every message type from your account settings, and every email we send carries a one-click unsubscribe.
6. Quiet hours
We do not send messages between 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Central time, regardless of the time zone you are in.
7. Carriers
Supported on major U.S. carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed and depends on your carrier and device.
8. Consent records
When you opt in we record the exact consent wording shown to you, the date and time, and the originating IP address. Messaging regulations require us to be able to evidence consent, and that record is how we do it. It is never used for any other purpose.
9. Changing your number
Tell us if you give up a mobile number you registered, so a message intended for you does not reach its next owner. Update it in your account or write to [email protected].
