How it works

Where the events come from, how they are checked, and what happens when something does not add up.

Where events come from

Three ways. Organizers send us flyers. We collect from public sources — city calendars, university feeds, ticketing platforms, chambers, parks. And a person whose actual job is watching the Facebook groups, parish bulletins and radio announcements pulls in what neither of the other two catch.

That third one is the expensive one and it is not optional. Every local events product that skipped it launched with eighty events and had nine by week eight.

How a flyer becomes a listing

The flyer is read, and the date, time, venue, price and performers come out of it. That gets checked before it publishes, and anything unclear goes to a person rather than being filled in with a plausible guess.

The original flyer stays as the image on the listing. It is the evidence for any correction, and it is half the reason people stop to look.

What happens when something is uncertain

It waits for a human. A flyer that says “este sábado” with no year does not get published with a guessed date.

This is the rule we are strictest about, because the failure it prevents is somebody driving forty minutes to an event that was last March — and that person never comes back.

What we will not do

We will not invent events to make a thin week look busy. We will not rewrite an organizer's own words into marketing copy. We will not sell your phone number.

And we will not put a chatbot on the homepage. Nobody wants to have a conversation with a calendar.
