Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Pragmatic Business Solutions, located in Rio Grande City, Texas, collects, uses, shares and protects personal information through the Qué Hay RGV website and applications. It is written to be understood, not to protect us.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share your mobile phone number or your SMS consent with anyone for their own marketing. Any market research we ever publish uses aggregated, anonymized data only, in which no individual can be identified. In a community product, one privacy failure is terminal — we treat this as a hard limit, not a preference.
1. Information you give us
- Contact details — name, email address, mobile number, and the city you select.
- Organization details — the name and type of your business, parish, school, park or agency, if you register as an organizer or vendor.
- Event submissions — flyers, photographs, event descriptions, venue details and contact information you provide.
- Consent records — whether you agreed to receive text messages, and the date, time, IP address and the exact wording of the consent shown to you.
- Support correspondence — messages you send us.
- Payment details — handled by our payment processor. We receive confirmation, the last four digits and expiry, never the full card number.
2. Information collected automatically
- Server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps, kept for security and deleted after 30 days.
- Device and usage information — for example which language your device prefers, used to suggest a language and to improve the product.
- Approximate location derived from IP address, at city or country level. We do not collect precise GPS location unless you explicitly grant permission in a mobile app for a feature that needs it, and you can withdraw that permission at any time.
3. Why we use it
- To operate the Service — showing events, saving your list, sending reminders you asked for.
- To notify you when we launch, and to send the weekly roundup if you requested it.
- To communicate with you about your account, a submission, or a support request.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and fraud, and enforce our Terms.
- To understand which parts of the product are used, in aggregate, so we can improve them.
- To meet legal obligations, including messaging-compliance recordkeeping.
Our lawful bases, where applicable, are performance of a contract, your consent (for text messages and any non-essential analytics), our legitimate interest in operating and securing the Service, and compliance with law.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who need it to deliver the Service on our behalf, and only for that purpose. They are bound by contract and may not use it for their own purposes. These include hosting and infrastructure providers, our email delivery provider, our text-messaging carrier, our payment processor, mapping and weather providers, and error-monitoring and analytics tools.
We may also disclose information where required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of any person. If we are ever involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, personal information may transfer, and we will give notice before it becomes subject to a different policy.
We never sell personal information, and we never share your mobile number or SMS consent with third parties for their own marketing. This applies without exception.
5. Text messages
Text messaging is optional and requires your express opt-in. We record the consent language shown to you, the date and time, and the originating IP address, because messaging regulations require us to be able to evidence consent. Reply STOP, ALTO or PARAR to any message to cancel, or HELP or AYUDA for help. We do not message between 9 p.m. and 8 a.m. Central time. See our SMS Terms for detail.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We use the minimum necessary. See our Cookie Policy. Where we use any non-essential cookie or analytics, we ask first.
7. How long we keep it
- Waitlist and contact details — until you ask us to delete them, or two years after your last interaction with us, whichever is first.
- SMS consent records — for the period required by messaging regulations after consent is withdrawn, because the record is what evidences that the consent existed.
- Server logs — 30 days.
- Account and billing records — as long as the account is active, then as required by tax and accounting law.
- Published event content — retained as part of the historical calendar, subject to takedown on request.
8. Your rights
Wherever you live, we honour these requests: to know what we hold about you, to receive a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to withdraw consent at any time. Residents of Texas, California, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have these rights by statute, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them; because we do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, there is nothing to opt out of on those grounds.
Write to [email protected]. We respond within 30 days and may need to verify your identity first. If you are unsatisfied, you may complain to the Texas Attorney General or your state regulator.
9. Security
We use encryption in transit, restrict access to personal information to those who need it, keep systems patched, and take encrypted backups. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant regulator as required by law.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, write to [email protected] and we will delete it.
11. Where information is held
We operate in the United States and store information there. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand your information is processed in the United States under United States law.
12. Changes
If we change this policy materially, we will post the update with a new date and, where we hold your contact details, tell you before it takes effect.
